WA Chapter
Launched in December 2002, the WA Chapter of the ACS Foundation provides funding for ICT scholarships and research in Western Australia, with a strong focus on building links between industry, research and academia.
The Western Australian Government has thrown its considerable support behind the chapter. We are delighted that the Hon. Fran Logan, Minister for Energy, Science and Innovation, has agreed to be Patron of the WA Chapter.
In August 2006 the Minister kindly hosted a reception for the ACS Foundation scholars and donors at Parliament House. It was an occasion for the recognition of everyone involved with the ACS Foundation in WA – the committee, the organisations providing the scholarships, and of course the scholarship recipients themselves.
Putting WA on the map
The ACS WA Branch has been a key player in the establishment of the local Chapter. Its role is to facilitate innovation and industry development for the benefits of the whole state. Specifically it is working on implementing measures and initiatives that will encourage more growth, particularly in products and services that can be used to develop export markets and establish WA as a major ICT supplier throughout the Asia Pacific region.
